ICT UPDATE

SIMS upgrade of last week went well, with no reported bugs so far. Please do contact the ICT helpdesk to report any problems that you may experience.

New Personnel version 7 is in the pipeline, currently the ICT department are working upon the conversion from the existing system to the new release due out later this month.

Classlink 7

The new system has been in place since the beginning of the year and it has been fairly stable. Last term saw us resolve some of the teething problems experienced since rolling out the new version of classlink, however all problems were addressed and we should now be working again. Please feed and issues you may have to the ICT department.

 Wireless Rollout

Testing of the wireless network resumed at the start of the spring term. Some problems had come to light through testing and we now hope to have the system up and running. Hopefully over the coming weeks staff will be contacted and their laptops will be connected across to the wireless network. There is a schedule of work addressing some inherent build issues and some housekeeping on the older laptops. Through this execise we hope to offer a fairly robust connection to the wireless network. Further work will continue through the year and once staff are connected we will look forward to enabling student access also.

English Lab

The english ICT labs has been out of action since classlink crashed and also futher delays have been caused by students destroying keyboards and mice rendering the PC's useless. Plans are underway to rebuild the PC's with new keyboards and mice. Once it is re-enstated there will be a reduction in the number of PC's available the middle of the lab will no longer host any computers and the desks will be left clear for pupils to work upon. THere will be a new regime in place once the room is ready for use, please see JM for further information.
